The Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola has officially commissioned six new state-of-the- art security patrol boats acquired by the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA as part of measures to enhance maritime security in the country.

Speaking in Lagos, Thursday, the Minister commended the management of the Authority led by the Managing Director, Mohammed Bello-Koko for its commitment to boosting maritime security and generally upgrading port infrastructure to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.

Commenting on the event, the Managing Director on his verified X handle @MohdBelloKoko said: “Executive Management this afternoon joined the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, HE, Adegboyega Oyetola, to commission the seven newly acquired security patrol boats in Lagos.

The Minister officially commissions the new security patrol boats.

“These security patrol boats will continue to enhance our ability to detect, deter, and respond to security threats and incidents before they fester.

“The deployment of these state-of-the-art security patrol boats takes us a notch higher in our compliance with the dictates of the International Ship and Port Facility Security ISPS Code of the International Maritime Organisation IMO.

The enhancement of maritime safety, security, and compliance with globally acceptable standards is one of the Nigerian Ports Authority’s deliverables under the Presidential Priorities of the Federal Government of Nigeria. What we witnessed today is, therefore, achieving these deliverables and aligning with the presidential directives regarding the performance of MDAs.”
