The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA’s skills acquisition centre in Apapa, one of the six, spread across all the geo -political zones in the country is currently doing a lot in terms of developing human capacity and creating job opportunities for the teeming youths.

According to the agency, the vision is to equip several Nigerian youths with requisite skills for self-dependence, thus tackling one of the challenges of the Blue Economy, thereby improving productivity and employment.

NIMASA management is currently empowering youths through skills acquisition at the centres located within the six geo-political zones across the country.

The programmes are also designedcto instill a sense of purpose and self-worth, while promoting social integration within maritime host communities such as the one located within the port city of Apapa, Lagos.

The agency also insists that in addition to equipping several Nigerian youths, another vision of the programme is to tackle unemployment through a long-term goal of enhancing maritime security.
