Katsina Monarch extols virtues of late Sir Amadu Bello…Bags NUJ award

The Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara mni has extolled the virtues of late Sir Amadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto and Premier of the defunct Northern Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, has honoured the Monarch, who doubles as the Patron of the Union for his support over the years.

Alhaji Usman Bello was speaking as a Royal Father at Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Lecture organised by Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Katsina State Council to commemorate the death of late Sir Ahmed Bello, the Primer of Northern Region who was Assassinated 60 years ago by soldiers in Kaduna during the 1966 military coup.
The former Customs Comptroller, urged leaders at all levels across the country to build upon the late Sarduana’s legacies for overall development of the nation.
He said the name; Sir Amadu Bello has continued to dominate both historical and contemporary discourse in democratic leadership, governance and public service sixty years after his assassination.
Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara commended the efforts of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Katsina State Council for finding the day worthy of reference for organising series of events and lectures in his honor of the late premier and urge them to continue to organied this type of lectures yearly.
The Kanwa Katsina observed that the visionary leadership and foresight of the late premier of Northern Nigeria laid a foundation for the socio-economic development in northern Nigeria particularly through the establishment of institutions of learning like the famous Ahmadu Bello University Zaria were the Kanwa Katsina attended and graduated in 1981 and other in infrastructure that are still in use to this day.
Meanwhile, the guest speaker, who is a lecturer at the Bayero University Kano, Dr Bala Abdullahi Mohamed recalled that Sir Ahmadu Bello succeeded in forging unity among the various ethnic tribes in the defunct Northern region and executed various projects and programs that brought about development in the region.
A highpoint of the event was the presentation of award of honor to the Kanwan Katsina Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara mni who is the Patron of the NUJ Katsina state Council for his continued support to all its activities.
In attendance at the event were dignitaries from all walks of life including the including the Deputy Governor of Katsina State Malam FARUK Lawal Jobe, who delivered a keynote address, also extolling the virtues worthy of emulation of the late Primer of Northern Nigeria Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto.
In a related development the Kanwa Katsina Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara mni congratulated the NUJ Chairman Katsina State Council, Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan Ali for his promotion to post of permanent Secretary in the Katsina State Civil Service which he described as meritorious and urge the new permanent secretary to work assiduously for the development of Katsina State in his new role and wished him God’s guidance.
