MARAN congratulates Nnadi, Bomodi, Umar, others

The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria MARAN, has congratulated the newly appointed Area Controllers of the Nigeria Customs Service, comprising Comptrollers Dera Nnadi mni, of Seme Border Command, Timi Bomodi of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal KLT, Apapa, Lagos and Mohammed Auwal of Marine Command also in Lagos.
The association has also felicitated with the chairman of Nigerian Indigenous Shipowners Association NISA, Alhaji Aminu Umar on his election as the 7th president of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, NCS as well as the President- General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, who was recently elected the 1st Vice President of Nigeria Labour Congress NLC.

The association in a statement said: “These three Comptrollers of Customs –Nnadi, Bomodi and Auwal are fine officers who have distinguished themselves in the service of the Nigeria Customs Service. MARAN has a long-standing relationship with them particularly Comptrollers Nnadi and Bomodi who had served at various times as Public Relations officer of Apapa Customs Command and National Public Relations Officer of the service.
“They are knowledgeable and competent. To us at MARAN, the service stands better as their experiences will manifest in the execution of the service’s mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation and suppression of smuggling. “
The statement further reads in part: “The election of both Comrade Adeyanju and Alhaji Umar did not come to us as a surprise. The MWUN President -General has distinguished himself as a man of the masses, particularly the maritime workers. Under him, Nigerian maritime workers have experienced and enjoyed improved working conditions and better wage/salary.
“Serving at the national stage, Adeyanju will certainly bring to bear his wealth of experience as a maritime labour man on the lives of Nigerian workers. We wish him well and the best for Nigerian workers.
“Aminu Umar is a round peg in a round hole. As a seasoned shipping magnate and Managing Director of Sea Transport Group, Umar will definitely make a difference as the President of NCS because of his experience. We expect the Chamber to begin to come up with policies that will make meaningful impact on the industry. “
