Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority Mohammed Bello-Koko, yesterday played host to officials of the African Leadership Organisation UK, who were on a one day working visit to the Marina, Lagos headquarters of the authority.

Senior Bureau Head. African Leadership Magazine, Bernard Adeka, who spoke during the visit, noted that the aim of the visit was to understudy some of the leadership exploits of the current management of the authority under the supervision of Bello-Koko.

The Bureau Head, who also congratulated the Bello-Koko-led management for the various reforms including the elimination of the hydra-headed Apapa gridlock through the introduction of electronic traffic management system (truck call-up system) as well as massive port infrastructure renewal, charged the management to continue in such strides in the overall benefit of Nigeria’s economy.

The MD, who assured that the management under his watch is leaving nothing to chance in terms of enhancing the efficiency and globally competitiveness of the nation’s seaports, also assured that everything was being done to grow the country’s non-oil exports through the seaports.

One of the mechanisms, according to him, was the recent creation of export handling terminals strictly dedicated to handling non-oil exports with a view to removing all forms of delays and encumbrances that may delay the processing and shipment of non-oil export consignments.
