NCC partners Sweden to enhance Nigeria’s network quality

The Nigerian Communications Commission NCC has taken a major step to improve mobile network services across the country. Last week, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, signed a grant agreement with SWEDFUND, the Swedish government’s investment arm. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Annika Hahn-Englund.
The funding will support a new project called the Crowdsourcing Quality of Experience Project. This initiative will use real-time data to monitor the quality of mobile networks from the perspective of users. It will help the NCC understand the challenges faced by mobile phone users, such as dropped calls, slow internet speeds, and poor network coverage.
This project is an important step toward improving connectivity in Nigeria. If successful, it could serve as a model for other African countries.
With this information, the NCC will be able to make better decisions on regulating the telecom industry and expanding services to areas that lack good network coverage. It will also ensure that telecom companies provide better service to their customers.
