The Nigeria Customs Service at the weekend carried out a minor rejig of its management team, in line with efforts to enhance strategic service delivery. The exercise led to the promotion and redeployment of some senior officers.

According to a statement by the National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Chief Superintendent, Abdullahi Maiwada, this follows the statutory retirement of some members of the management team.

To this effect, the Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, has approved key management appointments, especially of Assistant Comptrollers General of the Service in acting capacity.

Under the new dispensation, a one time Zonal Coordinator, Western Operations, Lagos, ACG B.M. Jibo, who later became acting DCG, Enforcement, Inspection and Investigation EI&I now becomes Deputy Comptroller General DCG Finance, Administration and Technical Services FATS while O.A. Alajogun becomes acting DCG Enforcement, Inspection and Investigation EI&I.

Other details show that former Customs Area Controller in charge of Seme Border Command, Comptroller Timi Bomodi has been promoted and redeployed as acting ACG Enforcement, Inspection and Investigation (EI&I), while I.G. Umar assumes duty as acting ACG in charge of headquarters.

Similarly, O.A. Salefu assumes duty as acting ACG in charge of Training and Doctrine Command TRADOC, while B.A. Makinde assumes duty as acting ACG, Human Resource Development HRD.

The statement reads in part: “These appointments are a testament to the officers’ exemplary services and dedication to the Nigeria Customs Service. The Service remains committed to providing strategic leadership to ensure effective and efficient service delivery for optimum performance.

“While thanking the retired members of the management for their meritorious services, the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi congratulates the newly appointed officers and charges them to redouble their efforts to ensure that the Service achieves greater heights in its mandates of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and trade facilitation.”
