The Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr Dayo Mobereola and the Chief of Air Staff, Nigerian Air Force, NAF, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar have met in Abuja to deliberate on enhancing security in Nigeria’s maritime domain.
Recall that both organisations have had a long-standing relationship, especially, which was strengthened with the coming on stream of the Federal Government’s Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure Project, also known as the Deep Blue Project, which took off about two years ago.
Under the enhanced partnership, NIMASA is proposing an improved air surveillance and better information sharing between NIMASA and the Air Force in line with efforts to sustain the fight against piracy and sea robbery not only within the country’s maritime domain but also across the Gulf of Guinea region.
