The National Identity Management Commission NIMC has commenced partnership with the House of Representatives Committee on National Population towards a successful completion of the National Digital Identity project.

In line with this partnership, the Commission held a one-day retreat with members of the Committee with the aim achieving harmonious relationship towards establishing digital identity in the country. The theme of the retreat, which held in Abuja last weekend was: “Identity Management and Legislative Oversight”.

This collaboration is also expected to help the Commission achieve it mandate by fostering a harmonious working relationship between both parties.

Director General/CEO, NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, while speaking at the event, said the retreat was aimed at re-acquainting the committee members with the activities of the Commission as well as its mandate and mission.

According to her, the retreat was also designed to provide the needed environment for the lawmakers and the management of the Commission to identify possible areas of collaboration and build a harmonious working relationship towards the success of digital identity in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Okunjimi Odimayo, who also spoke at the occasion, commended the NIMC DG and her team for their effort at raising the Commission’s profile within a short period since her assumption of office last year.

He pledged that the Committee would give maximum support to NIMC to ensure it achieves its mandate.

In attendance at the retreat were members of the Committee and top management staff of the NIMC.
