TheNigerian Ports Authority NPA, joined the rest of the global corporate community to celebrate the 2022 edition of the Global Customer Week, which began Monday.

Speaking at a rally held at the Marina, Lagos corporate headquarters of the authority as part of activities to mark the week, Managing Director of NPA, Mohammed Bello- Koko, pledged that the management under his watch would leave no stone unturned in ensuring effective and cost efficient service delivery at the nation’s seaports.

He noted that it was in line with this vision that the management is pursuing an aggressive automation of the ports and harbour systems, which is incorporated into a Port Community System being implemented in collaboration with the International Maritime Organisation IMO, the global maritime industry regulator.

Bello-Koko noted that automating the country’s port systems and operations was crucial to making the seaports globally competitive as well as ensuring customer satisfaction, adding that the Port Community System remains a game changer towards achieving this objective.

He enjoined other port stakeholders in the country including shipping lines and their agents, terminal operators, other sister government agencies and regulators as well as freight forwarders to join hands with the NPA in order to make the new community system, which is expected to eliminate all encumbrances in port and cargo operations a reality.
