MV KOTA CEMPAKA at berth at the Onne Ports Complex.

The Onne Port Complex of the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, yesterday Saturday April 27, 2024 yet again demonstrated its ability to fully utilise capacity and readiness for large ship call, with the successful berthing of a container vessel with Length over All (LOA) of 300 metres.

The vessel christened “KOTA CEMPAKA” with International Maritime Organisation IMO number 9638965 sailing under the flag of Singapore shipped in 566 laden containers.

Responding to the development, Managing Director/CEO of the NPA, Mohammed Bello- KoKo said: “This is a confirmation of the capacity and readiness of Eastern Ports for increased vessel traffic. This also shows that our investments in channel navigability and security are yielding results. We will sustain our advocacy for the patronage of the Eastern Ports.”

This most recent feat is coming few months after the berthing of a similar big container carrier, “Maersk Stadelhorn” also measuring 300 metres LOA and “MV Lady Jane” with 295 metres LOA. These developments are a clear indication that Onne Port is poised to sustain its growing fortunes.
