Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, Mohammed Bello-Koko has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the management of the Authority under his watch to meeting and indeed exceeding the ministerial and presidential mandate and would stop at nothing in ensuring zero tolerance for non-performance.

Recall that the MD had penultimate week, signed a Presidential/Ministerial Performance Bond, which was supervised by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, which was part of the fallouts of the maiden ministerial retreat organised for heads of agencies under the new ministry.

Speaking while declaring open a three-day in-house meeting organised for top management staffers, Bello-Koko noted that the meeting was designed to cascade deliverables arising from the Presidential/Ministerial Performance Bond signed a couple of weeks ago.

He insists that every member of staff of the Authority is duty bound to deliver upon the bond in justification of their earnings and positions as responsible public servants.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministerial Bond that has set out the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by which we will be adjudged as an Authority, is in itself a derivative of a Performance Bond that the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy had earlier signed with His Excellency, Mr. President.

“Given the result orientation of the current administration, this retreat, which has been put together to equip you with the understanding and clarity of purpose necessary for result delivery, is therefore one that requires maximum seriousness and concentration, as there would be zero tolerance for underperformance going forward.

“I urge my team to find out from the elucidations of our resource persons, how every unit, section, department, division, and directorate has a role to play in fulfilling the Authority’s targets, and just as performers will be identified and rewarded, underperformers will be found out and sanctioned.

“As we emerge from this retreat, we expect specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound input, output, and outcomes that will stand us out as pacesetters in the community of federal government agencies.

“I am persuaded without any scintilla of doubt that if we activate our can-do spirit in addition to our knowledge, skills, and experiences garnered over the years, we would not only meet but exceed expectations and make our dear nation a better place for us all”, Bello-Koko said.

In attendance at the three-day event, which commenced Sunday are Executive Directors, Finance and Administration, Aderenle Adeshina, Marine and Operations, Hon. Onari Brown and other heads of departments and units of the Authority.
