Shippers’ Council, Immigration partner to boost maritime security, efficiency

The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council NSC, Barr Pius Ukeyima Akutah has reaffirmed the commitment of the Council under his watch towards inter-agency collaboration and partnerships with a view to boosting security and efficiency of maritime trade in the country.
Akutah spoke at the Council’s Apapa headquarters in Lagos, Tuesday when he led top management team of the Council to play host to a delegation from the Lagos Seaports/Marine Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service NIS, led by the Command Comptroller Clementina Ogbudu.

It was learnt that the visit was a step toward fostering collaboration and ensuring a secure and efficient maritime business environment.
The NSC-boss strongly assured of the Council’s unwavering commitment to improving efficiency in maritime trade. He also highlighted the crucial role of inter-agency collaboration in breaking down barriers and promoting seamless operations at the nation’s seaports.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service plays a vital role in regulating immigration at Nigeria’s seaports, and this engagement underscores the importance of working together to achieve our shared objectives”, Barr Akutah further said.
Meanwhile, the team leader, Comptroller Ogbudu, who spoke earlier, emphasised the need for strong partnerships with the NSC to enhance service delivery and uphold their mandate.
She expressed appreciation to the NSC-boss and the entire management team for the warm reception accorded to her and the team and pledged that both agencies would continue to work together to achieve their statutory mandates in the overall interest of the Nigerian state.
