The Nigerian Shippers’ Council NSC has commenced talks with the Borno State Government in order to establish an Inland Dry Port IDP in Maiduguri, the state capital. This is with a view to deepening the connectivity of the northern region of the country with conventional seaports in order to enhance trade and commerce.

Executive Secretary/CEO of the Council, who held a meeting with the governor, Prof Babagana Zulum at the government house, Maiduguri, Saturday, disclosed that both parties have commenced talks that would crystallise in the establishment of an IDP.

Recall that the Council has already established IDPs in Kano and Kaduna States both in the North West as the establishment of one in Borno, North East geopolitical zone would complete the package designed to bring shipping services to the hinterlands.
