Shippers’ Council sets regulatory agenda for 2026…Pledges high quality, efficient Economic Regulation

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council NSC, the country’s Economic Regulator for the port industry has said it is currently working on evolving a regulatory agenda for the maritime industry for the 2026 financial year.
Executive Secretary/CEO of the Council, Dr. Pius Akutah MON, while speaking on the maritime regulatory outlook for 2026, assured stakeholders comprising shipping lines, terminal operators, shippers (importers and exporters) and other service providers that the Council under his watch is committed to advancing trade facilitation, promoting fairness, and ensuring efficient, transparent, and high-quality economic regulation across the maritime industry.
He assured that the Council would deploy the abundant human and material resources at its disposal to bring to bear on delivering on its core mandate of providing quality Economic Regulation for the country’s port industry that aligns with international best practice.
He said: “All hands are on deck as we work collectively to effectively discharge our economic regulatory mandate in the maritime sector.
“In doing so, we are deliberately setting the agenda for the year, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to advancing trade facilitation, promoting fairness, and ensuring efficient, transparent, and high-quality economic regulation across the maritime industry.”
