The Tin Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service today, Monday, 27, 2024 played host to top officers of the service from the Abuja headquarters led by the Comptroller in charge of Welfare, Human Resource Development HRD, Comptroller E.J. Harrison, who were on a personnel audit of the command.

The personnel audit is in line with the directive of the Head of Service of the Federation, which prompted the service to issue a circular dated May 15, 2024, directing a comprehensive audit of all its personnel in line with directive of the Head of Service of the Federation.

Customs Area Controller, Tin Can Command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni, while speaking on the personnel audit, assured stakeholders of the command, especially shippers (importers and exporters) as well as freight agents that the on-going three-day exercise will not disrupt port operations/activities at the command.

 He therefore enjoined all relevant stakeholders to go about their respective activities as adequate measures have been put in place to ensure that the exercise does not in any way hinder economic activities at the command.

“We wish reiterate that the primary goal of the Nigeria Customs Service is to facilitate trade professionally and effectively by ensuring competency- based human resource deployment”, Comptroller Nnadi further assured.

Meanwhile, Comptroller Harrison, who also met with the respective Area Controllers of the Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited PTML and Lilypond Area Commands, earlier in the day met with officers of the Tin Can Area Command before kick starting the audit exercise. 

Comptroller Harrison, who admonished the officers to be of good conduct while the exercise lasts, however promised that all officers from the various Area Commands will be attended to, adding that the exercise was designed to give room for officers to update their records and assist the Service in promotion exercise as well identify the status of officers of the various commands for effective deployment.

Other officers from PTML and Lilypond Area Commands are also expected to join the officers of the Tin Can Island Area Command for the exercise which, which is expected to end May 29, 2024.
