Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, Mohammed Bello-Koko has said that efficient port infrastructure is crucial for Nigeria’s seaports to attain operational efficiency, global competitiveness and boost revenue generation.

In a tweet monitored on his verified Tweeter handle @MohdBelloKoko, the Managing Director said he was very pleased with the decision of the pioneer Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola to focus on upgrading port infrastructure, which he said was key to boosting port efficiency, competitiveness and ultimately revenue.

“It is my pleasure to host the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, in Lagos.

“We inspected both the Lagos Ports and Tin Can Port complexes and the ports access roads to see firsthand the level of repairs that are required to engage the Ministry of Works so as to facilitate expedited repairs.

We also took a tour of the 380-capacity training school at Dockyard, which is a capacity development facility to promote learning and staff development. The facility is equipped with a simulation system, a digital library, and hostel accommodations.

The Minister further agreed with the Nigerian Ports Authority management on the need to fully rehabilitate the decaying port infrastructure to improve safety and revenue””, the visibly elated Bello-Koko said.

He however pledged the full support of the management under his watch to the new Minister in his quest to transform Nigeria’s decaying port infrastructure to world standards.
