Comptroller Shuaibu receives the Customs flag, which is the symbol of power at the Unit.

Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu has formally assumed duty as the new head of the Nigeria Customs Service NCS, Federal Operations Unit FOU Zone ‘A’, Lagos. This follows the redeployment of his predecessor, Comptroller Kola Oladeji, to the headquarters of the Service in Abuja.

A statement by the Unit’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Hussaini Abdullahi, confirmed that Comptroller Shuaibu has taken over as the 28th officer to lead the apex anti-smuggling Unit of the Service.

Both the incoming and outgoing Comptrollers display the handover note.

Speaking at a brief handover ceremony at the Unit’s headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, Comptroller Shuaibu pledged to improve operational efficiency, drawing on his experience to manage the Unit’s complex responsibilities.

“With the Cooperation and support of officers, men of the Service, as well as our stakeholders and the guidance of the management of Nigeria Customs Service, we will do our best” he had stated.

He called for the full cooperation of officers and men in delivering the Service’s core mandates and stressed the importance of adhering to its Seven Golden Rules—known as the 7Cs—as guiding principles.

Shuaibu expressed gratitude to God and the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for the opportunity to serve. He expressed confidence in the ability of the Unit to excel in delivering on the core mandates of the Service as a whole.

Earlier, outgoing Comptroller Kola Oladeji urged his successor to sustain the Unit’s momentum and voiced confidence in his leadership. He also thanked the CGC, management, and personnel of the Unit for their support during his tenure as the 27th head of the Unit.
