NCC, ICANN move to boost cyber security in Nigeria
In what many stakeholders and operators described as a smart move to boost cyber security in the country, the Nigerian Communications Commission NCC has held a webinar in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers ICANN.
The partnership aims to increase people’s awareness of Domain Name System Security Extensions DNSSEC in Nigeria.
The Domain Name System Security Extensions DNSSEC is a suite of specifications developed by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers ICANN to enhance the security of the Domain Name System DNS.
The webinar, which held recently, was designed to promote DNSSEC validation and ensure that Nigeria achieves increased awareness by the end of 2024.
It was further gathered that the goal was to achieve a minimum of 50 per cent DNSSEC validation in the country by the end of the year.
The DNS serves as the internet’s phonebook, translating human-friendly domain names into IP addresses that enable computers to locate and communicate with each other on the network.
