The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, has initiated moves to consolidate its partnership with the United Arab Emirates UAE, with a view to boosting non-oil trade volumes.

This is coming on the heels of Nigeria’s participation at the recently concluded Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, where Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU, on exploring strategic collaboration in Ports development, maritime logistics and digital solutions.

It was in the light of this that the Managing Director of NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho received the Consular-General of the United Arab Emirates in Nigeria, His Excellency, Salem Al-Jaberi at the Marina, Lagos, headquarters of the NPA.

Speaking during the meeting, Dantsoho said: “On the directive of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and our amiable Minister Adegboyega Oyetola, we are poised to consolidate our synergies with Abu Dhabi as we work to grow the trade volumes especially in the non-oil sector.”

Responding, Consular – General Salem Al-Jaberi said: “Nigeria and Abu-Dhabi have become strategic partners and we are ready to double the bilateral and trade relations in the days ahead”.

The meeting which had in attendance the Executive Directors Finance & Administration, Mrs. Vivian Richard-Edet, Executive Director, Engineering & Technical Services, Engr. Ibrahim Abba Umar and Executive Director, Marine & Operations Engr. Olalekan Badmus respectively, rose with a renewed resolve to explore the entire gamut of growth in trade opportunities between both countries.
