NSC-boss moves to boost regional integration, visits North-East

As part of efforts to boost regional integration, the Executive Secretary/CEO of Nigerian Shippers’ Council NSC, Dr. Pius Akutah MON, led a team from the Council on a familiarisation visit to the North East Zonal Directorate of the Council, located in Bauchi, the Bauchi State capital.
In addition to promoting regional integration in shipping activities, the purpose of the visit was to support non-oil exports, especially agricultural and allied products, which aligns with the current administration’s goal of diversifying the economy by enhancing the nation’s resources through the blue economy.

During the visit, the Council boss held an interactive meeting with stakeholders, aimed at advancing shipping activities in the region and the role of shippers’ association in representing the interests of importers and exporters. He highlighted the Council’s initiatives aimed at improving ease of doing business.
Dr. Akutah also toured the Inland Dry Ports project site in Bauchi, an initiative of the Bauchi State Government, designed to attract both import and export activities to the area.
The visit marked a strategic step in assessing the activities of the Council in the region and reinforcing its role in trade facilitation and port economic regulation.
