Shippers Council woos WTO to resolve Nigeria’s trade issues

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council, the Economic Regulator for the port industry has initiated talks with the World Trade Organisation WTO in order to resolve the country’s international trade issues and ultimately unlock her vast maritime potential.
This strategic move formed part of the agenda for discussion when the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Council, Barr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima MON, paid a working visit to the Director General of the WTO, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
It was gathered that their discussions centered on the critical challenges facing Nigeria’s shipping industry, port operations, and the broader maritime sector, as well as key aspects of international trade that impact country’s economy.
Investigations further showed that the duo also explored potential solutions and identified new opportunities for the development of the shipping and maritime sector in Nigeria.
