Late Madam Ezinne Dorothy Osamgbi

The death has been announced of Ezinne (Mrs.) Dorothy Ndukoso Osamgbi (Nee Eluemunor), aged 85, a devout Catholic, a successful business woman and an accomplished civil servant, who retired from the then Bendel State Hospital Management Board.

According to a press statement signed by the Deputy Director and Head Public Relations, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA, burial rites as announced by the family begin on Thursday, October 25, 2018, with a vigil Mass by 5pm, at The Catholic Church of Assumption, Zappa, Asaba, Delta State; while a funeral Mass holds at 10am on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the same venue. The statement also said that reception follows immediately after interment, at St. Brigids Girls Grammar School, Umuaji Quarters, Asaba, Delta State.

Similarly, a thanksgiving Mass holds on Sunday, October 28, also at the Catholic Church of Assumption, Zappa, Asaba, even as traditional rites begin at Asaba, in her family compound at Nnikwu, Umuaji Quarters and later at Abuedo Quarters Ubulu-Uku respectively on October 27, 2018.

She is survived by her husband, Ogbueshi Alex Chukwuma Osamgbi, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a woman leader, hardworking community leader and a bridge builder, who lived her life for the good of others. A lover of children and believer in education as the greatest gift to a child, alongside discipline, she was committed to hard work and above all, the fear of God.

She also believed in family values and used every opportunity she had to mentor and help anyone she could support beyond her immediate family, which earned her the nick name and title: “Area Mama”. The family will greatly miss her, especially for her love and role as a uniting force.
