Maritime Editors hold dinner to honour Sambo, Adegoroye

The League of Maritime Editors LME has concluded plans to organise an appreciation dinner in honour of Minister of Transport, Muazu Sambo and his Minister of State, Ademola Adegoroye.
The dinner is to appreciate the two Ministers for their hard work and landmark achievements albeit within a short period of time in the Transport Ministry. The appreciation dinner slated for June 9 at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event, which is strictly by invitation, will be chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Boss Mustapha.
President of the League, Chief Timothy Okorocha and the Public Relations Officer, Francis Ugwoke, in a jointly signed statement, said the two Ministers are being honoured for their glaring efforts to move the industry forward since they were appointed about 10 months ago.
According to the statement: “Sambo focused on projects that will move the nation’s maritime industry forward.
“Among the projects, the statement added, are ports’ infrastructure rehabilitation, indigenous shipping development under which he got the President’s approval for the disbursement of the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund CVFF, the process which has since started.”
Recall that Sambo had on assumption of office, also promoted human capacity development both in the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA and Maritime Academy of Nigeria MAN, Oron, Akwa Ibom State.
The statement reads in part: “On assuming office, the Minister moved to enhance ports’ efficiency and interconnectivity of agencies through the Nigerian Shippers’ Council NSC by establishing the Port Community System under a single platform. He will be remembered for achieving so much for the industry after spending less than 10 months in office.”
Meanwhile, the Governors of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Taraba, Darius Ishaku and Ondo, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu CON SAN are expected to grace the occasion.
It was further gathered that the Emir of Muri in Taraba State, Alhaji Abbas Tafida and the Deji of Akure in Ondo State, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, Odundun II and captains of the maritime industry will also attend the event.
