In line with its commitment to widen access to digital learning opportunities across the country, the Nigerian Communications Commission NCC, has launched the Zero-Rated Access to Educational Platforms Initiative.

The initiative is also designed to eliminate data-cost barriers that may prevent students and other learners from accessing approved digital education platforms and learning resources.

It was gathered that the initiative, which is being implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, aims to make digital education more inclusive and accessible to learners across the country.

The official unveiling ceremony attracted stakeholders from government, academia, the communications and education sectors, as well as student representatives, highlighting the importance of collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s digital education agenda.

NCC noted that the initiative is driven by collaboration, innovation and purposeful partnerships and represents another significant step towards expanding access to digital learning as well as ensuring that more Nigerian students benefit from educational opportunities available on digital platforms.

A highpoint of the event was a panel session, which focused on the vision, implementation and potential benefits of zero-rated access to educational platforms in Nigeria.

The session also examined the role of collaboration in ensuring that the initiative achieves meaningful and sustainable impact on Nigeria’s education sector.
