The three principal agencies in the maritime industry comprising the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA, the Nigerian Shippers Council NSC and the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, are currently taking steps to address some of the myriads of challenges bedeviling the industry.

The industry is currently grappling with massive congestion both at the terminals and the access roads with the attendant high cargo dwell time, long turnaround time of vessels and growing insecurity of the nation’s waters, among several others.

In line with this vision, heads of the three agencies have instituted periodic strategic meeting where these issues and challenges are discussed with a view to resolving.

In attendance at the inaugural meeting were Director General, NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, Executive Secretary/CEO, NSC Barr. Hassan Bello and MD, NPA, Ms. Hadiza Usman Bala. The meeting held held at the headquarters of the council, Apapa Lagos.
