The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations NIPR has inducted the chairman, governing board of the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, Chief Akinwumi Ricketts as a Fellow of the institute as part of activities marking its just concluded 2022 Annual General Meeting, held in Abuja.

Also inducted were former spokesman and current Director, Special Duties of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA, Isichei Osamgbi, current spokesman of the agency Osagie Edward, former spokesman of the Nigeria Customs Service, Wale Adeniyi, as well as a former spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, Frank MBA.

In a statement by the General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications of the NPA, Nasiru Ibrahim, Chief Ricketts, who was inducted alongside 79 new other Fellows was in recognition of his contributions to the growth and development of the PR practice in the country, which experts believe has grown in leaps and bounds, especially in the last two decades.

Speaking shortly after his induction and inauguration, the NPA board chairman urged Nigerians to be hardworking, committed and accountable in their services to the Nigerian nation, adding that the country needs the support and cooperation of all citizens in her current level of political and economis development.

He thanked the board and the entire leadership of the institute for finding him worthy to be inducted as a Fellow, describing it as a great honour and pledged to continue to uphold the ideals of the institute comprising honesty, equity and fairness in all his endeavours.

“I am highly delighted because nothing beats the feelings as when you reach the highest echelon of whatever organisation you are involved in and what excites me more is when I see my colleagues who are present here too. 

“It makes me so happy and feel that Im in the right kind of place where the best of practitioners in the field of Public Relations are assembled. My advice to potential Fellows and Nigerians is basically to do the right thing wherever you find yourself. Work hard, be accountable, have faith and believe in God.”
