Director, Human Resources Management of the Council, Mr. Mustapha Zubairu.
The Executive Secretary/ CEO of Nigerian Shippers’ Council NSC, Dr. Akutah Pius, MON, has said Nigeria’s attainment of a resilient and prosperous Blue Economy is dependent on the deployment of science‑based resource management, robust policy frameworks, modern technology and active community involvement.
Speaking at the 8th edition of the National Tourism Transportation Summit and Expo, which held December 2nd-3rd, 2025 in Abuja, the NSC-boss noted that a robust policy framework was necessary to achieving the country’s projections in terms of harnessing her vast blue economy potential.
Represented by the Director, Human Resources Management of the Council, Mr. Mustapha Zubairu, at the summit with the theme: “Tourism and Transportation Connectivity: Accelerating the Synergy for National Socio‑Economic Growth and Development”, Dr. Akutah noted that the event served as a forum for discussing stronger ties between the tourism and transport sectors.

“With coordinated, well‑funded and technology‑driven marine governance strategy, Nigeria and Africa could unlock billions of dollars in annual economic benefits, create millions of jobs and restore ecological stability.
“Sustainable management of blue economy resources is a critical pathway for unlocking productivity, protecting livelihoods, enhancing biodiversity, and ensuring economic resilience”, Dr Akuta also said.
Also in attendance were Deputy Director, Regulatory Services Department, Mr. Ibrahim M. Karmashe, Deputy Director, Special Duties Department; Mrs. Austina Ogbonnaya, and Assistant Director (ICT) ALO, Mrs. Ogochukwu Uchenabo.
