You must show diligence, professionalism, Customs tells promoted officers

The Nigeria Customs Service has charged the newly promoted officers that they must show a high level of diligence and professionalism in all their future assignments as a way of justifying the confidence reposed on them through their promotion by the management.
Zonal Coordinator in charge of Lagos Zone A, Assistant Comptroller General ACG Nike Aremu, who performed the official decoration of officers of the ranks of Comptrollers, Deputy Comptrollers and Assistant Comptrollers within the zone in Lagos Thursday, noted that the selection process for the promotion was a painstaking one.
The ACG, who disclosed that the selection processes for the promotions were stringent, noted that those selected for promotion merited and deserved it, having gone through the strict processes and emerged successful.
She however insisted that this promotion should serve as a morale booster for the officers to do more in terms of being diligent, hardworking and showing professionalism in all their assignments, which should also serve as their own way of showing appreciation to the management for enlisting them for the promotion exercise.
“I was at the headquarters, Abuja during the selection processes for the promotion and I can confirm to you that it was truly painstaking, and so for your to have emerged successful means you deserve it. But is should also serve as a morale booster for you to appreciate the management for your elevation to the next rank.
“You must at all times cultivate and exhibit the virtues of hard work, diligence and professionalism, you must be dedicated to duty because only these could see you through. I must say that your promotion is well-deserved and so we are proud of your success and on behalf of the Comptroller General and the entire management team, I congratulate you all”, she said.
ACG Aremu therefore assured the officers that the management would continue to be committed to ensuring the welfare of officers and men of the service while ensuring that professionalism, diligence and excellence would continue to be appreciated and rewarded through regular promotion and other incentives.
The service had sequel to the approval of the governing board announced the promotion of a total of 2, 707 officers and men of the service across board.
According to a statement signed by the Deputy National Public Relations Officer of the service, Timi Bomodi, out of a total of 2,707 promoted officers and men, four were Deputy Comptrollers General, 12 Assistant Comptrollers Generalthe exercise which cuts across board, the Customs Board announced the appointment four Deputy Comptroller Generals and 12 Assistant Comptroller Generals.
The statement also said that a total of 35 Deputy Comptrollers were promoted to the rank of full Comptrollers, including former DC Enforcement at the Tin Can Island Command and current DC Admin at Ogun 1 Customs Command, Dera Nnadi, Customs National PRO Joseph Attah, Babajide Adeniyi, Anthony Udenze Suleiman Chiroma and 30 others.
It was gathered that the promotion takes effect from January 1, 2020.
