2025 NPERA CEO Awards: Akutah honours outstanding staffers, seeks integrity, professionalism

The Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Agency NPERA, has held its combined 2025 CEO and SERVICOM Staff Recognition Awards at its headquarters in Lagos to honour outstanding staff for their dedication and excellence, and to institutionalise a culture of performance, accountability and quality service delivery.
The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of NPERA, Dr. Akutah Pius, MON, who was represented by the Director, Finance and Accounts Department, Mr. Steve Olaniyi, congratulated the award recipients and urged all personnel to uphold integrity, discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He noted that the transition from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council to NPERA under the NPERA Act, 2026, demands higher standards of conduct and performance, adding that collective performance across all departments will determine the Agency’s credibility as a port economic regulator.
The DG/CEO emphasized the need for continuous learning, technology-driven decision-making and practical solutions to simplify procedures, reduce delays and promote transparency at the nation’s ports. He stressed mentorship as a core leadership responsibility and assured staff of Management’s unwavering commitment to their welfare and professional development.
In her goodwill message, the Acting National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of SERVICOM, Mrs. Helen Lawal, who was represented by Team Leader B, Dr. Ben Onche Olofu, said excellence should not be an occasional achievement but should become part of the everyday culture of the Agency.
She added that as an Agency entrusted with critical regulatory responsibilities, the quality of its service has a direct impact on stakeholders and the wider economy. She stressed that every interaction, every decision, and every responsibility is an opportunity to demonstrate that public service can be delivered with competence, fairness and responsiveness.
The event featured the presentation of awards to deserving staff in various categories, including Best Staff of the Year from each Department/Unit, Best Director of the Year, Best Department/Unit of the Year, Outstanding Standing NYSC/IT, Driver and Cleaner of the Year.
The DG/CEO, NPERA received the Special Award from the Servicom Unit of the Agency.
The ceremony ended on a high note with networking and renewed commitment by staff to drive the DG/CEO’s vision of making NPERA a world-class port economic regulator.
