The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara mni, has lauded the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD CON for improving the welfare of traditional institutions in the state.

The Monarch gave the commendation while answering questions from newsmen at Government House, Katsina, shortly after the presentation of promotion letters to district and village heads at the Red Chamber.

Recall that Governor Radda had recently approved the elevation of district heads across the Katsina and Daura Emirates to the rank of Director on Grade Level 16, while village heads were upgraded to Grade Level 10 in the state civil service.

Presenting the letters, Governor Radda acknowledged the critical role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and facilitating the implementation of government policies and programmes.

He noted that traditional rulers remain the closest link between government and the people, adding that their contributions have continued to support development at the grassroots.

The Governor described the elevation as part of efforts to improve their welfare and provide incentives to enhance their performance.

He further explained that the decision aligns with the newly approved Katsina State Emirate Law, recently passed by the State House of Assembly, which provides for the upgrading of district and village heads.

Also speaking, the Kauran Katsina and District Head of Rimi, who represented the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, expressed appreciation to the state government for the gesture.

He assured that traditional institutions would continue to support government initiatives, noting that increased responsibility comes with greater expectations.
