The Nigerian Communications Commission NCC, has pledged quality service across stakeholders within the country’s communications and digital ecosystem, as it marks the 2026 Customer Service Week.

Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida made the pledge while speaking during one of the activities to celebrate the 2026 Customer Service Week 2026, with the theme: “Going the Extra Mile.”

According to him, “Quality service remains central to the mandate of the Commission, because every policy we formulate, every decision we make, and every regulatory intervention we undertake should ultimately improve the experience of the people we serve and support the development of Nigeria’s communication sector.”.

Highlighting the essence of the theme: “Going the Extra Mile”, Maida noted that the theme has a practical meaning in the Commission’s daily activities.

“It means listening carefully, responding promptly, explaining our decisions clearly, and following through on commitments. Sometimes, it is as simple as helping someone understand the next step, providing an update before they have to ask, or taking responsibility for an issue until it reaches the right person and is addressed”, the NCC. boss explained.

He also noted that, based on available technology in an increasingly digital environment, customers more than ever now look forward to services that are efficient, transparent and responsive.

Dr. Maida pointed out that, “Technology and systems help us meet those expectations, but it is our judgment, empathy and professionalism that give those services their value. Behind every inquiry or complaint is someone who needs an answer, a solution or the reassurance that their concern is being taken seriously.”

The NCC EVC seized the opportunity to commend the staff of the Commission for their diligence at work always, while charging them to continue to contribute meaningfully to the overall target of customer satisfaction, as well as improve on internal service.

“Whether you respond to consumer complaints, engage with licensees, support regulatory processes, manage communications or provide internal services, your contribution matters. Much of this work happens quietly, but its impact is felt across the Commission and by the stakeholders who depend on us.

“Internal service deserves particular attention. The quality of service we provide to one another affects the quality of service we deliver to the public. When we share information promptly, respond to colleagues and work effectively across departments, we help the whole Commission perform better,” Dr. Maida said.

He however acknowledged the contributions of the consumers, industry partners and other stakeholders, noting particularly that feedback from them helps to understand where the Commission is doing well and at the same time help identify areas to improve on.

“We must remain willing to listen, learn and act on what that feedback tells us”, the CEO charged members of staff of the Commission.

He therefore called on the staffers in the spirit of customer service week, identify something to improve their work daily, ” saying “It may be a response that takes too long, a process that causes unnecessary difficulty, or a recurring complaint whose underlying cause needs attention. Addressing these issues is how we turn our commitment to service excellence into results.”

While also challenging the staff to take ownership of their responsibilities, he highlighted the need to treat every stakeholder with courtesy and respect, uphold the highest standards of integrity. According to him, “These everyday actions build trust in the Commission and strengthen confidence in our work.”

The NCC-boss commended members of staff for their dedication and for the care they provide in serving others and challenged them to further carry the spirit of “Going the Extra Mile” into their work space throughout the year in the overall interest of the country.
