The National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, has said that the ongoing Ward Level Enrolment Drive for the National Identification Number NIN, which officially kicked off on Monday February 16, 2026 is still ongoing and progressing steadily across the federation. The Commission urges the general public to comply with its officials deployed for the exercise

NIMC reiterates that the NIN remains a foundational requirement for accessing critical government services in Nigeria. The Commission therefore encourages all citizens and residents who have not yet enrolled to take advantage of this decentralised exercise and present themselves at designated ward enrolment centres.

According to a statement by the Head, Corporate Communications NIMC, Kayode Adegoke PhD advised members of the public to check the NIMC website for the nearest designated enrolment point within their ward and also cooperate with enrolment officials in order to ensure a smooth and hitch-free exercise.

The Commission also urges the public provide accurate information during registration and also visit and follow NIMC official communication channels for verified information and updates on www.nimc.gov.ng.

The statement reads in part: “NIMC remains committed to achieving inclusive identity coverage nationwide and calls on all citizens and residents to come out en masse to register and obtain their National Identification Number.”
