NPA Governing Board re-strategises, holds retreat

As part of the ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria’s seaports for optimum efficiency and global competitiveness, the governing board of the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, held a one-day retreat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital recently.
Acting Managing Director of the organisation, Mohammed Bello Koko, while speaking at the event, urged participants to key into the new management’s vision of making the nation’s seaports efficient, user-friendly and globally competitive by embracing digitisation and removing all impediments to free flow of traffic.
He restated the management’s commitment towards port efficiency, especially by adopting multi-modal transport system in evacuating cargo through barges, rail coaches and enhancing the operations of the recently rebooted electronic call-up system for trucks, which has eliminated the gridlock on port access roads.
The MD also charged the participants to further come up with concrete ideas that would enhance the Federal Government’s ease of doing business policy, with a view to making the seaports efficient, user-friendly and globally competitive thereby adding value to the nation’s macro economy.
