In line with its commitment to stakeholders’ engagement and synergy, the Nigerian Ports Authority recently played host to the leadership of Advocacy for Maritime Development Association of Nigeria AMDAN, who visited the management at the authority’s corporate headquarters on Marina, Lagos.
Managing Director of NPA, Mohammed Bello Koko, who was on ground to receive the visiting team, assured that the agency’s doors are wide open to stakeholders as part of the management’s efforts to make the nation’s seaports efficient and globally competitive.
He assured that the management under his watch would leave no stone unturned in removing all forms of encumbrances to smooth port operation, citing the re-booting of the electronic call up system for trucks, which has curtailed Apapa gridlocks as well as the enhanced barge operations to decongest the port terminals.
President of the association, Oluwasegun Alabi, while speaking earlier, said the visit was to pat the new management on the back for its numerous initiatives, which also includes but not limited to the Operation Green, which has cleared illegal structures on port access roads, thus enhancing free flow of traffic.
He also commended the management on its planned efforts towards rehabilitating internal roads within the seaports, especially the Lagos Ports Complex and Tin Can Island Ports Complex, both in Apapa, which would further boost efficient movement of cargo in and out of the seaports.
