The Nigerian Railway Corporation NRC has flagged off its annual capital procurement process for 2024. The event held today at the national headquarters of the Corporation in Ebute Metta, Lagos.

The Significance of this excercise is to ensure transparency in selections of the most competent among the 524 documents that bidded.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director/CEO of the Corporation, Engr. Fidet Okhiria, who was represented by Dr. Monsurat Omotayo, promised that the exercise would be transparent despite challenges, adding that placing of adverts twice on national dailies was not planned for initially.

According to the Director Procurement of the NRC, 524 bids were received across the three categories as published in the national newspapers.

It was gathered that the categories include Works, which comprise renovations, growth, and repair of locomotives, coaches and rolling storks, Services include insurance, the alternative revenue generation, while good cover supply of lubricants, Automotive Gas Oil AGO, spare parts and tracks materials).

Amongst the audience were adequate evaluators, representative of Federal Ministry of Transport, Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Management Supplies. Others were Non- governmental organisation (Civil Liberties Organisation), Professional bodies, outside observers as well as members of the fourth estate.

Participants were made to register their details at entry of the gate.

The Health safety environment HSE unit was also on ground to ensure adequate care to nip in the bud any health challenges.
