Former MARAN President and CEO, Ships and Ports Communications Limited, Bolaji Akinola

World Maritime University WMU, Malmo, Sweden has offered a Ph. D admission to former President of Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria MARAN, Bolaji Akinola, who doubles as CEO, Ships and Ports Communications Ltd. The WMU is owned by the UK-based International Maritime Organisation IMO, an organ of the United Nations.

This is coming few months after the School of Media Studies of the Pan African University; Lagos awarded him a Ph. D, having completed his thesis entitled: Millennials, Digital Natives and the Future of Print Newspapers, which was defended before an online panel.

This current admission was communicated via a letter dated March 8, 2021, signed by the Director, Ph. D Programme of the World Maritime University. It reads in part: “Dear Bolaji Akinola, this is to advise that you have been offered admission into the World Maritime University Ph.D. Programme in Maritime Affairs based on your research proposal “Significance of public-private partnerships in curtailing maritime crimes in the Gulf of Guinea.

“The expected period of the programme is 3 to 6 years, which you may pursue full time or part-time, for 240 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). The duration of your studies will be counted from the date of your enrolment.
