Nigeria recently joined coastal nations with the west and central African sub-region in a bid to chart a new course for the growth and development of the regional maritime industry.

The event was the 16th Extraordinary Session of the Maritime Organisations for West and Central Africa MOWCA in Accra, Ghana during which Nigeria led delegates from other delegates from 24 other countries to participate in the General Assembly.

Minister of State for Transport, Gbemisola Saraki led the Nigerian contingent, which also included the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transport, Dr. Magdalene Ajani; Managing Director, National Inland Waterways Authority NIWA, George Moghalu and Chairman Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Solomon Adeola, among several others.
