The Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, and the Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Authority NPERA, are currently closing ranks in line with Federal Government’s initiatives towards strengthening trade facilitation measures.

It was in the light of this that the Managing Director of NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho on Monday September 21, 2026 hosted the Director General/CEO, NPERA, Dr. Pius Akutah MON, and his team to strategic crucial at the NPA headquarters on Marina Lagos.

This comes on the heels of the transition of Inland Dry Ports IDPs, to the NPA as stipulated in the recently enacted NPERA Act 2026.

Recall also that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola had following the signing of the NPERA Act 2026 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the NPERA management to relinquish its IDP functions and transfer same to the NPA, insisting that the Agency cannot be an operator and also be a regulator.
